Q: What is CBD?

A: There are many different chemicals found in the Hemp and Cannabis plants, and Cannabidiol ( CBD ) is one of the most commonly used as it has a number of uses. Aside from CBD, there is CBN, CBG, CBC, CBDV, and many more but CBD may be one of the most versatile. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is another component, and being the active ingredient that gets you "high" - no inflamade products contain THC as we want to be a safe resource for pure CBD, and THC Free products.

CBD is named after its chemical structure, and interacts naturally with the bodies Endocannabinoid System mentioned below. The difference is that when you ingest THC, it binds to THC receptors in your brain creating the high effect - CBD doesn't do this even though it has a similar structure to THC.  Incredible that a small change in chemical structure results in such big differences in therapeutic activity. And this comes down to the idea that we don't know enough about CBD, or the whole family of cannabinoids in general, to say why CBD does not produce the psychotropic effects whereas THC, which is very similar, does. Of its 40+ uses and counting, it continues to be one of the most amazing natural remedies known to man.

Where does CBD come from?

As mentioned it's grown naturally for thousands of years, the earliest written record of cannabis use appears in ancient China (~6000 B.C.), the most direct evidence can be found in scripts closer to 2700 B.C. in early editions of the Pen Ts’ao Ching. Throughout the ages, we find many examples of cannabis being used [by multiple cultures] for its perceived restorative and medicinal properties.

Fast forwarding to more modern times, the use of cannabis-derived medicines began to fade in the early 20th century, thanks to the advent of more modern medicines to treat pain and other common conditions. By the late 1930s and early 40’s the war on cannabis was well underway, and the cultivation of the plant was illegal.

In 1970, the Controlled Substances Act was passed; making the mere possession of cannabis illegal. The new law listed cannabis (both hemp and marijuana), as a Schedule I substance with ‘no medicinal benefits and a high risk of dependence’.

Q: Is CBD used therapeutically by the medical community?

A:CBD decreases neuronal activity in certain types of seizures in children that suffer from epilepsy. One of the only FDA approved medicines is made by Epidiolex, who did over $250 Million in sales in 2020. You can see the results of a child having a seizure consuming CBD here - amazing what happens! Imagine with further research and less corruption in the medical industry we would find many more approvals, leading to an increase in plant use over pills.

Q: Is it safe to try CBD?

A: Everyone has an Endocannabinoid System - think about your Respiratory System to breathe, or your Circulatory System - the Endocannabinoid System is no different it just manages plant medicine throughout your body. From birth you have it, pets have it too. More mentioned on this below. As hemp and cannabis has naturally grown from the earth for thousands of years, putting 1+1 together should equal 2 in this case. Propaganda over the years has stigmatized plant medicine and we are on a mission to reverse this trend. See what Barbara has to say about our cream as she's successfully used CBD for Arthritis over the last 3 years.

You should use pure CBD, with CO2 extraction methods and lab test results to know you are putting quality product into your body. Also look out for Full Spectrum CBD which contains trace (up to .03%) of THC - this actually can make you feel high if you take enough - so again, be sure you are taking pure CBD. Dosing 5-10mg for stress, 10-20mg for pain, and 30-100mg for sleep. Try a little, see the results, and take more if needed.

How does CBD work?

In order to understand how CBD works, we must first understand the concept of the Endocannabinoid System(ECS).

CBD, much like its more commonly known cannabinoid cousin THC, interacts with our body in a variety of ways. It's main role is to mimic, and augment the effects, of compounds within our bodies called endogenous cannabinoids. These endocannabinoids are part of a homeostatic physiological regulator, in less scientific terms the system keeping everything in the body just right, called the ECS. The ECS was technically discovered by accident, by a team of scientists working to understand how THC affects the body, who stumbled upon this important element of human health.
